There are many different options for types of locations to host your wedding and reception celebration. A beach wedding and reception. A beach wedding with the reception at one of our wonderful restaurants or hotels. Getting married on the water while enjoying a moveable feast. The choice is yours.
Regardless of your choice we recommend your hiring one of the island's wonderful wedding planners who know the island's ways, rules, beaches, restaurants, and 'best of' just about anything you might need or want during your wedding week. Over the years guests of Great Expectations have worked with many of St John's wedding planners and we are happy to recommend a number of them for your consideration. However, to get you thinking about what type of setting would work best for you, you might consider one of the following type of venues:
Can you imagine having your own wedding ship? Floating by St John as you say 'I do'? One of St John's newest (and largest) ship's is now offering such an opportunity. Many boats, large or small, can be reserved for private events. The destination can be yours to determine. The event can be as formal or infomal as you desire. You could have your wedding background be the beautiful Hawksnest Beach and then move on to another harbor for your reception.
A boat might be the perfect setting for your rehersal 'dinner'. There are several options on St John that hold 30 people or more. Hire the boat for the day or for a sunset cruise. Again, the destination is yours to determine.
If you are squimish about boats - or you think your guests might be - then a boat is not for you. Fret not, there are tons of other options. How about getting married on a beach? The beauty of St John's beaches is unmatched! You can be formal or infomal. Spontanious or quite choreographed. Your wedding planner will help pick the right beach and time of day that works for you. There is even one beach location where you can host your reception with your own private caterer, and music of your choosing.
OK, OK you are not keen about boats and you are worried about the weather (yes, it does rain on St John - although rain on your wedding day is said to bring good luck!), so what is a bride (and groom) to do? What about having your wedding and reception at one of our wonderful restaurants? We have several that will close down and devote its space to you. Some are beachfront, others offer majestic panoramic views.
And, of course, St John has a number of very pretty churches and houses of worship from which you can choose if that is your preference.
