Airlines flying to the Virgin Islands
Getting to St John - fly into St Thomas (STT)
The majority of the island being National Park land, St. John has no airport. The closest airport is located on St. Thomas, a 20 minute ferry ride from St. John (the romantic boat ride from St Thomas is one of the things we all love about St John!)
. Airlines offering non-stop service from the mainland USA to St. Thomas are American Airlines
, US Airways
, Jet Blue
To connect through Puerto Rico, Cape Air
have several flights a day between San Juan and St Thomas. Southwest
offer low fares from the state to San Juan.
Travel to the Virgin Islands from the mainland US is pretty easy. While current US government regulations do not require a US passport for travel to or from the US Virgin Islands, we recommend you bring a passport (or you will need a certified copy of your birth certificate and, for anyone 18 or older, a driver's license or other government identification with a photograph); you will need to clear US Customs on St Thomas when you depart which having a passport, while not necessary, will facilitate your departure. You will need a passport should you wish to visit the nearby British Virgin Islands such as Tortola, Jost van Dyke, or Virgin Gorda.
