The closest airport is located on St. Thomas, a 20 minute ferry ride from St. John. Airlines offering non-stop service from the mainland USA to St. Thomas are

Air Canada also announced that starting December 2011 it flys from Toronto Canada to St Thomas (STT).
If you want to connect through Puerto Rico,
Cape Air has several flights a day scheduled into the St Thomas airport.
